Inspiring Change through Heritage Craft
Drawing on her own personal journey, Patricia Alban-Stanley founded Sammy’s Foundation to give young adults with complex neurological needs the opportunity to discover and express their creativity within a safe, supportive environment.
Through the teaching of heritage craft skills, the Foundation offers more than the chance to learn a new discipline or uncover a creative passion. Each student becomes part of a living tradition, acquiring skills that might otherwise be lost and, in turn, becoming a custodian of our shared cultural heritage.
This session will explore the transformative power of craft, its ability to build confidence, foster connection and provide purpose, while keeping precious skills and traditions alive for future generations to come. Patricia will share the story behind the Foundation, followed by an interactive demonstration from the charity’s creative tutors, bringing these remarkable craft practices to life.
