Maran
Blending modern product design with symbolic storytelling, the piece explores how furniture can serve as a vessel for collective memory. The work bridges the gap between functional design, art, and collectible furniture, creating a space dedicated to ritual, gathering, grounded sitting and a renewed connection to cultural roots.
Maran translates the fluid form and rich symbolism of the Şahmaran myth (a half-woman, half-serpent deity representing wisdom and transformation) into a physical collectible. The piece modernises traditional grounded-seating layouts with a fluid, cylindrical backrest that mimics the movement of a serpent.
Traditional motifs are reinterpreted through a tactile blend of tufting, custom woodworking, and hand-sewn textiles positioning the final object elegantly between contemporary furniture and collectible art.
