The third piece from the Conchiolin Series inspired by the protective layered architecture of black saddle oyster shells*.
Like its companion piece, this work evolved from the same process as the Conchiolin Console, its paired forms also settling into the likeness of a mounted head.
The form itself stays playful in resisting this reading. While symmetrical in form, the extended horizontal planes and their separation from the wall strengthen the work’s functionality without compromising its sculptural character.
Hand crafted from micro-laminated fumed oak, the piece carries forward the console table's language of layered growth and transformation but shifts the focus from outer surface to inner structure. The raised mounting height bringing the sculpted underside and layered micro-lamination clearly into view.
Material: Fumed Oak (100% FSC), finished with Hard Wax/Oil

One of an edition of six. Each piece is made to order and will retain the same core design attributes, however small variations to colour, grain and shaping are to be expected due to material characteristics and the hand making process.
