Dot Nut Stool
In Dot Nut, the original three-leg Dot structure is combined with a distinctive donut-shaped seat, creating a different visual and experiential expression of the same design language. The collaboration with Abar Studio is also part of Dot’s approach to developing the system through collaborations with other designers and artists.
From the early stages of development, portability, assembly, component replacement and future production have been considered. The components are designed and manufactured to be portable and user-assembled, simplifying assembly while allowing damaged components to be replaced and enabling product customisation. For example, the seat can be replaced with a new form or material without altering the main structure.
The modular structure of Dot has also been developed with efficient packaging and transportation in mind. Different components can be packed and transported separately and assembled upon arrival. Together with its adaptable structure and interchangeable components, this approach allows a shared platform to support the production and development of different product variations.
Overall, Dot is not conceived as a fixed product, but as an evolving design system that can retain its structural identity while developing into a broader family of furniture and lighting products through changes in components, materials and creative collaborations.
