Itera is a modular furniture system that explores circular design through adaptable construction. Constructed from a repeated steel frame and CNC-machined aluminium connector joints, the system is designed so that its parts can be separated, repaired and replaced, extending the useful life of the furniture.
Rather than concealing its fixings, Itera makes them a defining visual feature. The exposed connections communicate how the furniture has been assembled and allow it to be intuitively taken apart. The same construction principle can be adapted to create different pieces of furniture, with the stool presented at Material Matters forming the first expression of a wider system.
