Lemon-Cello (2026)
This work explores the relationship between repetition, precision, and light through the meticulous process of colour thread warping. Layers of gold, charcoal, ivory, and soft neutral threads intersect to form a grid of nested geometric structures that appear to shift with changing viewpoints. The repeated squares create a rhythmic sense of depth, inviting the viewer to move closer and experience the subtle optical movement created by the overlapping threads.
Balancing mathematical order with the tactile qualities of textile, the composition transforms traditional thread techniques into a contemporary sculptural surface. The warm, earthy palette reflects themes of balance, craftsmanship, and quiet strength, while the layered construction celebrates the beauty of patience, precision, and materiality. Each thread contributes to a carefully orchestrated whole, creating a work that is both visually dynamic and meditative.
