Developed as part of Applelec Interiors’ Designing for Calm approach, LumiWindow combines carefully selected imagery with controlled backlighting to bring light, nature and visual interest into spaces where external views or natural daylight may be limited.
The system can be tailored in several ways depending on the needs of the environment. Tunable white illumination can shift throughout the day and integrate with circadian-conscious lighting programmes, helping introduce a sense of natural rhythm indoors. Day-and-night printing can transform the appearance of an image when illuminated, allowing a single artwork to create different visual experiences without replacing the graphic.
Selective illumination can also be used to reveal natural details within an image, creating a softer biophilic feature, while controlled brightening and dimming can turn light into a gentle visual prompt, including paced breathing or relaxation cues.
Every LumiWindow can be tailored in imagery, size, shape and lighting specification, allowing the feature to respond to the atmosphere, function and sensory needs of the people using the space.
The result is a familiar illuminated format, rethought as a more adaptable, restorative and purposeful design element.
