Parametric Walls – Illuminated Architectural Surfaces
Designed by internationally recognised designer Mario Romano of M|R Walls, the system uses a patented non-repetitive construction method that allows patterns to extend seamlessly across large areas without the obvious repetition of traditional tiled wall systems. This natural variation gives the surface a more organic rhythm and can help reduce visual uniformity and harsh pattern repetition.
As part of Applelec Interiors’ Designing for Calm approach, Parametric Walls explore how biophilic form, controlled illumination and material texture can work together to create more visually comfortable and restorative environments.
Integrated lighting is carefully engineered to reveal depth, shadow and surface variation rather than simply illuminate the wall. Colour temperature, brightness and lighting specification can be tailored to suit the atmosphere and sensory needs of the space.
The collection includes 12 nature-inspired core patterns, with bespoke patterns, scale and layouts also available. Walls can be shaped around the architecture, making the system suitable for everything from contained feature areas to large-scale installations.
The result is a fully integrated architectural surface where form, material and illumination are considered as one system, creating distinctive spaces with depth, character and a stronger connection to natural forms.
