Material Matters London returns for its fifth edition from 15-17 September, within a new district and a striking new venue, UNLOCKED Shoreditch. Spread across two floors of the former industrial building, exhibitors will span the full breadth of material innovation. Companies and organisations taking part include: FRONT and Biomason, with waste-derived bricks, tiles, and panels that are redefining circular construction; Carbon Cell, which is developing a biochar-powered compostable foam to replace plastic; and The New Materialist, a brand that works at the intersection of design, science and ecology to develop regenerative biomaterials. The Wood Awards will present its annual shortlist for the UK's outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation projects, and the Only Natural Awards will showcase the latest cohort in the global contest to illustrate the potential of natural materials. For the first time, Material Matters becomes an anchor event of Shoreditch Design Week.
