Studio Gonzalo Bascuñán is a Milan-based art and design practice exploring the intersection of craftsmanship, material innovation and circular design. Founded by Chilean-born designer Gonzalo Bascuñán, the studio creates collectible furniture, lighting, installations and public artworks that encourage new ways of thinking about materials, production and consumption.
At Material Matters London, the studio presents Carding Collectibles – a collection of sculptural furniture and lighting crafted from recycled cotton fibres. Inspired by the environmental impact of discarded fast fashion in Chile's Atacama Desert, the installation transforms textile waste into richly textured objects that celebrate colour, craftsmanship and the possibilities of circular design. Each piece combines hand-dyed recycled cotton with energy-efficient lighting to demonstrate how waste materials can be reimagined as expressive contemporary design.
