Ping Chen
Ping Chen is a London-based artist and fashion designer working across wearable art, textiles, and material-based practice. Through experimental garment construction and textile processes, his work explores how clothing can embody and negotiate relationships between the body, identity, memory, and culture.

Rather than treating clothing solely as functional dress, Ping approaches garments as material structures through which personal and cultural histories can be embodied, transformed, and reinterpreted. Drawing on cultural heritage, family memory, masculinity, care, and embodied experience, his practice examines how clothing can articulate the relationship between individual experience and broader social and cultural frameworks.

Working across tailoring, weaving, knitting, digital textile processes, and hand construction, Ping develops garments that move between clothing, textile objects, and sculptural forms. Transformation is central to his practice, with reversible construction, modular systems, and material experimentation allowing garments to shift in form, function, and meaning. Through these processes, his practice explores fashion as a medium for critical inquiry and cultural dialogue.

Ping graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London. He received the Christine Risley Award 2025 and Bronze in the International Design Awards 2025, and was named a finalist in Mittelmoda The Fashion Award 2026. His work has been presented across London Design Festival 2025, London Textile Month 2025 and Margate Pride Art Festival 2026, with forthcoming presentations at Dutch Design Week 2026 and FASHIONCLASH Festival 2026.
