Prima Materia is a circular design studio reimagining salvaged construction materials into distinctive, contemporary furniture.
Working with materials recovered from London redevelopment sites, the studio collaborates with emerging designers to create pieces for both domestic and shared spaces. Its approach centres on retaining value and character, positioning reclaimed materials as a resource rather than a compromise.
The latest collection, to be introduced at Material Matters, explores techniques that foreground these inherent qualities, including a distinctive dowelling method used to fill voids left by original fixings. Rather than concealing these traces, they are highlighted and reworked into deliberate, expressive details.
