For more than 3,000 years, vitreous enamel has been prized for its remarkable beauty and durability. Dutch design studio Stoksel Furniture Design is giving this historic material a contemporary future, reimagining the ancient craft by fusing coloured glass onto stainless steel to create furniture with extraordinary depth, luminosity and resilience. Founded by designers Anna UitdeHaag and Bart Stok, the studio combines meticulous craftsmanship with material experimentation, demonstrating how traditional techniques can find new relevance in contemporary interiors and collectible design.
At Material Matters London, Stoksel will present the world premiere of a new table created exclusively for the fair, alongside a carefully curated series of material samples exploring the expressive possibilities of vitreous enamel. Revealing subtle variations in colour, texture, transparency and finish, the display offers a rare insight into one of design's most enduring surface technologies. More than a furniture collection, it is an invitation to look again at a material whose beauty is matched by exceptional longevity, opening new possibilities for architects, interior designers and collectors alike.
