Announcing Kava Surfaces as an official Material Partner

Announcing Kava Surfaces as an official Material Partner
kava-surfaces
Kava Surfaces is a UK-materials company, producing sustainable interior-surface panels as a circular model.

Made from recycled bi-products, (including coffee husks, grounds, organic fibres such as fruit stones and mineral matter), our selection of beautiful finishes are all applied as a top layer surface to environmentally friendly, FSC-certified wood substrates in a 1-2mm thick coating.

We nurture relationships with varied clients (everything from local small coffee roasteries through to homeowners), alongside large brands/companies. We work with a large array of commercial clients, ranging from Gail's Bakery, Starbucks, Costa, Caffe Nero, HSBC, Zizzi's, Trading Post Coffee, The Natural History Museum, The Lamington Group, The Red Cabin, Joe Blake's, Zizzi’s, Caravan, Woodworks Brighton, Rocket St George, Karlstadt Innovation Project (Sweden) and Fabrica X.

Born from a passion to reduce waste, Kava creates materials which bring people together - whilst caring for the planet. A huge amount of material waste occurs in the Interior Design Industry and at every level, we strive to reduce this. Cheaply produced, nonorganic materials often find their way to landfill quickly, and we are celebratory of our long-lasting, completely natural - finished product designs.

Panels are manufactured using low-VOC, formaldehyde-free quality binders, ensuring high material performance, as well as maintaining a position of Green-credentials.

Offering sheet material, or made to order bespoke fixtures and fittings, we maintain plentiful repeat orders, as well as consistently attracting new clients (many seeking a greener way of operating.) Kava surfaces are used for many applications, from worktops, tabletops, wall panels, headboards, counters/desks, furniture and cabinetry to name a few.

Coffee is the second most traded product in the World, with food waste thought to be contributing to over 8% of the man-made gases causing climate change. With no shortage of this waste material, Kava Surfaces embraces a model which is sustainable for future generations. We also bridge the gap to a greener solution by also being aesthetically stylish, leading a way forward in design solutions. Clients can provide their own coffee waste to us as part of their brand story.  An excellent Marketing approach.

Kava Ranges from matte and chalky, to high sheen and glossy. We have different grading to meet the needs of higher traffic areas, sustainability, and usage.

Kava Eco: The most sustainable finish and 100% natural. Great for wall panels, decorative surfaces, and artwork.
Kava Home: Finished in a water-based sealant. Formaldehyde Free. Great for tabletops, furniture, worktops, cabinetry, domestic kitchens.
Kava Trade: Our most durable finish. Fire rated. Non-toxic and complies with commercial standards. Great for high traffic areas and commercial settings such as cafes.

A cup of coffee already tells a story for so many (sociable meetings, comfort, the origin of the beans in volcanic soils)…Kava looks to add a new chapter in the story of coffee waste, delivering Green/B-Corp friendly solutions to brands, through the design and production of aesthetically beautiful, hardwearing surfaces.
